Join to apply for the 2026 Graduate Programme - Earth and Environment - Mining role at WSP in the UK and Ireland.We are recruiting graduates for Mine Water, Mine Waste, Hydrology / Water Resource Engineering, Hydrogeology and Geochemistry across locations including Naas (Ireland), Birmingham and London.Responsibilities

Contribute to all parts of the mining life cycle, from exploration and pre-feasibility through to mine closure, supporting our clients moving towards sustainable mining practices.Work on projects internationally, learning from experienced colleagues at different stages of their career and with different areas of technical expertise.Assist with projects in Mine Water, Mine Waste and related disciplines as part of multidisciplinary teams.Deliver tasks such as modelling, design and technical reporting under supervision, and support client engagement and project delivery.Projects

Water balance models and water management plans for mining organisations in the UK and Europe.Modelling for dam break assessments and evaluating environmental and downstream impacts.Detailed engineering designs of hydraulic structures for mine sites.Operational and closure water quality modelling for mines globally.Passive mine water treatment for historic metal mines.Contributions to Environmental and Social Impact Assessments for Greenland and West Africa projects.Numerical modelling to update mine models and assess inflow for planned expansions.Evaluating options to reach water reduction targets across sites globally.Designing hydrogeological field programmes for feasibility studies and monitoring in Europe.Our Mining Teams

Mine Water : Surface water, waste, groundwater and geochemistry professionals helping clients improve site water management.Hydrology / Water Resource Engineering : Technical support to assess impacts and design water and drainage solutions.Hydrogeology : Site opportunities including domestic and international field visits; activities include sampling, borehole works, aquifer testing and numerical modelling.Geochemistry : Develop water quality and geochemical models; deliver mine water studies and analysis.Mine Waste : Geotechnical engineering on tailings and waste management; collaboration from concept to detailed design; client engagement and project delivery.Day-to-day Activities Could Include

Developing hydrological models and water engineering solutions; preparation of technical documents under supervision.Sampling, monitoring, borehole drilling supervision and groundwater analysis; numerical modelling.Creating and reviewing technical reports, drawings, specifications and risk registers; supporting on-site activities and client interfaces.Graduate Development Programme and Progression

Two-year Graduate Development programme with blended learning, core business and professional skills training, mentoring for chartership and on-the-job experience. Networking opportunities and career development resources are provided.What We Will Look For

Graduation with at least a 2:2 in a master’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject.Ability to start in April or September 2026.Ability to interpret and monitor results using tools to monitor geotechnical design and to assist clients with operational requirements.Effective written and verbal communication; enthusiasm for creativity and problem solving; willingness to travel in the UK and internationally.Proficiency in Microsoft packages.Desire to engage with the Graduate brochure or website for potential areas of the business.Application Process
